The difference for me is that the SMZ was a Z basically made up of off-the-shelf and easily orderable aftermarket parts from Stillen. Correct me if I am wrong, but everything that makes a SMZ is available right now on the website minus the plaques/badges, correct? Whereas the ZR-1 was a Corvette with a very different motor, and AFAIK is not just some basic performance upgrade mods that you can just buy from a vendor and easily recreate. Aside from painting the body kit, I could, for all practical purposes, turn my Z into a SMZ by myself (with the help of a writeup or two on TTnet of course). Plus I think myself being a somewhat versed Z32 owner, I wouldn't even bother going that route because IMO some of the stillen parts are inferior to other available parts. They are certainly overpriced. So in my opinion, while I am sure some SMZ owners have been given premium offers, I would be surprised if they were made by knowledgeable Z32 owners. The only thing that really makes the car unique are the badges. To me, collectibility is about more than badging a less than unique car.
